Fly it Proudly

Tomorrow is Flag Day, the commemoration of the day we adopted our U.S. flag on June 14, 1777. There will be a special event at the historic Calumet Theatre (one block from our current home) tomorrow afternoon. The public has been invited to participate by adding their voice to the largest group sing of the National Anthem in history as we celebrate the 200th anniversary of our nation's song, "The Star-Spangled Banner" (1814-2014).

There will be a live concert webcast at the National Museum of American History starting at 2:30 PM (EDT) tomorrow. Then, there will be Anthem Parties all across the U.S. at 4:00 PM - including the one at the Calumet Theatre - where people will gather and tune-in to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" along with the nation.

Unfortunately, we have to take a much-needed trip to Menards in Marquette tomorrow, so we won't be able to participate. Too bad, it would have been fun.

If you would like to read more about these events, our National Anthem and/or the War of 1812, click on the following link.

Even if you don't want to watch the live concert webcast or participate in the national event, you'll still find some really interesting historical information at that link.

We'll be spending the day traveling back and forth to Marquette in our RED truck - listening to a patriotic CD. If your flag isn't already out, get it out and fly it proudly!

All is well in the Keweenaw.
