It Happened Again!

We were away from home on Friday afternoon and evening, but we had an uninvited visitor while gone.

Yep, another bird feeder was missing. After some searching, Mr. Cut Off was able to find it in the woods. Of course, it was totally destroyed.

Due to black bear hunting season, we thought our local bears had surely all fled to even more remote areas of the Keweenaw, but there's obviously at least one still hanging around.

Oh well!

All is well in the Keweenaw.

Bursting at the Seams!

What makes a grandpa's heart almost burst at the seams?

When his granddaughter wants him to be the first one she calls when she shoots her first deer!

And it's an 8 point buck!

We love that girl so much!

Here's a First!

We had first-time visitors to our backyard this morning! I apologize in advance for the lack of clarity in these photos, but I was zooming (didn't want to move and scare them) and snapping through the screen on the patio door.

A hen and her young!

Although turkeys were frequent visitors in our yard in lower Michigan, and we've occasionally spotted them in the Keweenaw, we've never seen them on our property. The local turkey population is said to be increasing, so we hope to see more in our yard in the future.

Oh, our bear was back on Saturday night. Just happened to turn on the floodlights, and there it was.

All is well in the Keweenaw.
