Gratiot Lake

Gratiot Lake is a 1400 acre lake in Keweenaw County - only about 6.5 miles from our new house. If you look at the following map, our house is the green circle, and a purple arrow points to Gratiot Lake.

It's a beautiful, peaceful lake for fishing with a variety of fish including Largemouth Bass, Walleye, Rainbow Trout and Yellow Perch.

Steve was staying out at the property much of last week, and he received a call from an old friend from Saginaw on Friday. Doug (and his girlfriend) had just left Copper Harbor with his camper and fishing boat, so Steve directed him to our new house. After a bit of "catching up," it was decided that Doug would park on our property to spend the night, but he wanted to do some fishing before dark. Steve gave them directions to Gratiot Lake, and Doug and his girlfriend were on their way.

It all ended up working in Steve's favor, though. They caught some nice Walleye - Steve's favorite fish - and they returned to our property for a late fish fry they shared with Steve. I understand it was delicious!

Steve plans to spend a lot of time fishing this lake himself in the future, so he really enjoyed tasting a bit of what it has to offer.

All is well in the Keweenaw.
