A Humdinger

Well, we're at the beginning of a humdinger of a winter storm this morning.

We're talking about high winds and wet, heavy snow - not the usual powdery lake effect snow we get most of the winter. The lights have been blipping with increasing frequency since about 4:30 this morning, so I'm sure we'll lose power completely at some point. The forecast says 15" of snow is possible by tomorrow morning. Heavy snow + high winds = tree damage, so we won't be surprised if we also see some of that. I'll update you tomorrow IF we have power!

All is still well in the Keweenaw.

  1. Hi Julie, stay warm! Hope your power stays on. Do you have a generator? Every morning when I get up, the first thing I do is put the heating pad on my aching back. Ha! Something that helps us to stay limber is our eliptical, recumbent stationary bike. It gives a gentle workout. Hi from us to Mr. Cutoff. Blessings, Bev

    1. So far, so good on the power, but it's still very gusty out there & the winter storm warning is on until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow. No, we don't have a generator. It's on our wish list, but we haven't really needed one since we moved here. That surprises us as much as it probably surprises you. We have to give the utility crews a lot of credit. They work really hard in difficult conditions during power outages to get everyone up and running as quickly as possible. And even when the power was out over 9 hours on a cold, windy night like it was last Christmas, the house is so well insulated that the temperature never dropped very much. Amen! Of course, it will only take one major humdinger of an outage for the generator to move further up the wish list! Ha! Mr. Cut Off says Hi back!
