After the big parade, we removed the decorations from the Vette and walked to the park in Copper Harbor with Marty & Donna. The firemen always grill hot dogs and brats there as a fundraiser for the volunteer fire department on July 4th. Since we wanted lunch and we like to support our local fire departments, we made sure to participate.
Then, it was decided that Marty and Steve would take our Corvette home and switch back into our Traverse. Donna and I stayed in Copper Harbor and did a little shopping. I got this for 1/2 price at a little shop that will be going out of business at the end of the summer.
After the guys returned, we all enjoyed a lazy afternoon - sitting on the motel deck - watching the harbor. . .
grilling burgers - while watching the harbor. . .
with the men trying to decide (from a distance) if this animal was a dog or a pig. I zoomed in for a photo to settle the question. Dog - ugly dog.
The boat returned from Isle Royale. . .
and people were enjoying the water.
It was a nice, relaxing afternoon and evening on the waterfront, and people started gathering for the big show.
It gets dark quite late in the summer months this far north, so it was about 11:00 p.m. before the first kabooms were heard.
We sat back and enjoyed the show.
A lovely end to a perfect day. Stay tuned for Part 4.
All is well in the Keweenaw.
