Family Fun - Part 1

Wow, I have a lot of catching up to do. I still haven't told you about our trip to Saginaw in August, so here goes! We traveled "downstate" (as the Yoopers say) on Tuesday, August 6, and returned to the Keweenaw on Thursday, August 8. Steve had a doctor's appointment in Saginaw and we wanted to pick up Grace so she could spend some time with us in the U.P. We had to make a quick stop in Marquette on the way down.

Menards had loaned us color samples for our soffits and shingles that had to be returned, and we needed to complete our order for those items. We hit some rain, but most of the trip was under cloudy skies.

The clouds started to break up as we passed by our usual exit to Saginaw and continued down to Birch Run.

As long as we were in the area, we wanted to get some new shoes for Steve at the outlet mall.

Success! Two pairs were purchased. (Don't laugh. The Nike selection is pretty limited up here.) As we drove between Birch Run and St. Charles (where Steve's daughter lives), the sun was getting low in the sky.

It was still pretty - even if it was over flat land and not over Lake Superior.

It's always fun to stay with Carrie and Grace when we travel down to Saginaw. They make us feel very welcome, and Grace was excited about coming back to the Keweenaw with us. The next day (Wednesday) was spent running around to appointments and stocking up on pantry items from Aldi's and Dollar General. We went to the service at Community Baptist that evening and enjoyed some time talking with old friends. We grabbed Grace and headed back to the Keweenaw the next morning. I'll begin telling you about that in "Family Fun - Part 2."

All is well in the Keweenaw.

P.S. The construction photo log is current.
