Bringing Baby Home

What an exciting time we've had here this week.  Steve finally brought his baby home on Wednesday.  He was never completely at ease with the baby living in a foster home even though she was only 10 miles from here.

Some may consider Steve to be overly protective, but he prefers to think of himself as cautious.  Baby's environment is very important, so Steve spent a few days preparing the new nursery.  He made sure it was clean, safe and stocked with supplies.  He also checked and rechecked the weather forecast.  He didn't want to expose his baby to any inclement weather.

Steve was so excited when he awoke on Wednesday morning.  This was THE BIG DAY.  His baby was coming home!  I decided to stay home and wait with the camera nearby.  I wanted to capture the historic moment in photographs.

I'm sure Steve was grinning as he drove those 10 miles.  He picked up his baby and made sure to bathe her carefully before bringing her home.  Oh, she smelled so good - just like a newborn.  As he made his way to Calumet, he couldn't help but be impressed with her fine motor skills.  Finally, they rounded the corner and pulled up in front of the house.  I heard them coming, so I quickly snapped a few photos.  We're so thankful she's home, and we're happy to report that she's covered and napping comfortably in the new nursery.

What a beauty!

Hard to believe she's almost 9 years old already!

All is well in the Keweenaw!
