Old Man Winter

Well, we survived our most recent blizzard without a loss of power and no trees down on top of buildings or across our driveway! I also made it home from the hospital before blizzard conditions began, so that made me (and Mr. Cut Off) very happy! Yeah, hospital. There was an unexpected appendectomy inserted into my life last Friday, but I'm doing fine now - recovering at home, nice and cozy, looking out at this lovely view.

We've had 86" of snow just in the month of February (so far)! It's white and it's deep! As of this morning, our current season total is 264". That's right around our average snowfall for the season, and March and April can both bring us a lot of snow, so we'll see what happens. I know most people wouldn't mind if we had a partial meltdown or two before Spring arrives to try to reduce our piles a bit before the big thaw.

I looked out one of our bedroom windows 2 weeks ago and saw this.

I dubbed him "Old Man Winter." Is it just me or can everyone see the face? There's a nose, eyelashes, a beard, a neck and even a belly button!

All is well in the Keweenaw.

  1. Sorry to read you had to go through surgery. The appendix can be a scary problem. Glad all turned out well for that. We actually have escaped a lot of the usual snow here in Ohio, but have had way too much rain. The ground is soggy. I guess though our bit of a reprieve is over because snow is expected for this Sunday, the 3rd. Love the snow pictures. :) I see what looks like an eye with eyelashes, a stocking cap and a nose. ~smiles to the old man winter~. God's artistic view for your healing scenery. :)

  2. An "unexpected appendectomy"! I'm thankful you made it to the hospital in time and you're doing better. It's nice to see your photos popping up on Instagram!
