Pillar Candle Holder Makeover

We've added another 4-1/2" bringing our seasonal snowfall total up to 256.5". We lost power several times on Tuesday, and this was our blustery view yesterday.

Things look much better today - amazing what a little sunshine and blue sky can do!

Even though it doesn't look like we're quite through with winter, we're still looking forward to spring. Here's another quick project I recently completed.

You may remember the makeover I gave to a Dollar Tree candle holder back in December. I blinged it up a little for Christmas and/or Valentine's Day with some red sequin ribbon. You can see that blog post here.

I really liked those Dollar Tree candle holders, so I picked up 2 more for this project. My color of choice for most of my spring/Easter projects/displays this year is blue - blues that will coordinate with this yarn from Walmart ($2.97) in Key Largo Tweed.

This is the yarn I used for my dollar store vase makeover. You can see that project here. For these candle holders, I threaded the yarn through a large needle and wove it in & out of the open work of the metal candle holder.

I knotted the beginning and end of the yarn on the inside of the candle holder.

I started weaving the yarn in & out at the bottom and finished it off by weaving in & out of the seam on the back of the candle holder.

Since I didn't use any glue, these can be deconstructed easily to makeover again in any other color - or used again as they were originally purchased.

Since yarn is involved, you should obviously use only battery-operated candles in these candle holders.

Stay tuned, as I'm still not finished with that yarn.

All is well in the Keweenaw.

    1. Since our nearest craft & hobby stores are hundreds of miles away, the dollar store is often the place! Thank you, Linda.

    1. Our total is up to 267" of snow now, but I think spring is in the air. Lots of white stuff left on the ground, though. The snow marker on our lawn is still reading 25" on the level this morning. Thanks for your consistent and kind comments.
