Sunday Reflections - Mother's Day!
Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. (John 19:25)
As I read this verse again recently, I was overwhelmed by the love and strength of Mary, the mother of Jesus. What a heart-wrenching day that was for her! The baby boy she had fed, loved and nurtured was being tortured and murdered. Yet, she didn't leave Him at the cross to die without her. She wanted to be there despite how much emotional pain it was causing her to witness such a physically painful end for His earthly body. Oh, the wonderful love of a mother!
All is well in the Keweenaw.
Would take so much strength. Bless Mary. Have a great week. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a thought-provoking passage for us as mothers! Even when the sword pierces, we can be faithful as mums!
ReplyDeleteThe most heart wrenching scenes in The Passion of the Christ are the ones with His mother, Mary watching what He suffered.
ReplyDeleteI hope that if called upon, I can be as brave and strong as Mary. Happy Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteThe love of a godly mother is a powerful thing. Hope your Mother's Day was filled with love!
