Sunday Reflections
Let's look at that verse in context:
Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah.
Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
Psalm 24:8-10 and Psalm 25:1
Doesn't that make you think of Revelation 3:20?
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
I'm so thankful that I threw open the everlasting door of my heart to the King of Glory back in 1980.
All is well in the Keweenaw.
I read those same verses from Psalm 24 this past week (Hello Morning Study). They were so relevant to read in light of Advent. I am so thankful as well that I opened the door!
ReplyDeleteAny of the verses that Handel set to music in his Messiah is surely to be one of my favorites!
DeleteI am so thankful I threw that door open in 85! And I'm even more thankful that it became real to me as I grew older and I'm living my days AS a believer rather than simply holding the title. This is what I pray for my kids.
ReplyDeleteJust prayed with you, Jamie!
DeleteI've loved and went by the Lord's teaching most of the time as a child and young person. I knew the Lord, I knew his rules, but there were times of no following them even though I tried. But as this verse says and others have, I did not open my door and heart and total Love of Jesus until much later. Always thankful that even though he knocks and we don't totally listen, he doesn't abandoned. He patiently waits for those who finally hear the voice so much clearer. What a great scripture you share this morning. Love it. :)

The Bible uses the word "knock," not pound. That certainly shows us His patience, doesn't it?
DeleteI love those verses so much!
ReplyDeleteAmen!
DeleteThe King of Glory! What reverent images and feelings those words evoke. Yet, He desires to commune with us!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the wonderful reminder.
I love that your mind took you to the image of the King of Glory! Blessings, Karen!
DeleteThe King of glory!
ReplyDeleteJust noticed that your comment got lost in my "Awaiting Moderation" folder. Sorry about that & thanks for commenting!
DeleteLove those two passages of Scripture together - what a great pairing!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kym. I love it when the Lord makes us recall other verses as we're reading His Word.
DeleteGreat pairing of scripture. Thanks
