We were away from home on Friday afternoon and evening, but we had an uninvited visitor while gone.
Yep, another bird feeder was missing. After some searching, Mr. Cut Off was able to find it in the woods. Of course, it was totally destroyed.
Due to black bear hunting season, we thought our local bears had surely all fled to even more remote areas of the Keweenaw, but there's obviously at least one still hanging around.
Oh well!
All is well in the Keweenaw.
While not as destructive as bear we have to deal with raccoons and squirrels at the feeders here in SW Michigan. I finally stopped feeding the birds during the summer. In winter I only have the squirrels to deal with. While they are a nuisance they cause less damage to the feeders. A bears certainly sounds more exiting to us (only because we don't have them to deal with very often) but I'm sure they can be a pain.
ReplyDeleteMr. Cut Off finds the bears much more exciting than I do! They've been quite annoying this year. We're only putting out one feeder during the day lately, and we now have at least 2 deer that are eating from it. One of the young ones is trying, but hasn't mastered it yet. Very fun to watch, though.
