Then, he got unstuck. (OK, it took a while!)
Our contractor/friend, Ron, came out and helped Steve plow. It didn't take them long to figure out that we needed some heavy equipment in there to help. We had run out of room. One of Ron's brothers has a Case 580K tractor that could push and pile the snow into taller piles. So, they decided to regroup the next day with the tractor.
Steve came home and spent some time digging out our dryer vent again. I happened to walk into the office and noticed Cocoa through the window.
Yes, she was watching her master as he worked.
Steve was way down in the trench next to the house.
Right after I snapped that photo through the window, Cocoa noticed me, so she ran to the back door - hoping it was time for a treat.
Oh, what freedom she enjoyed before she was tethered for escaping from the yard! Those were the good old days.
Anyway, the guys got together again the next day with the tractor.
It did a nice job on the driveway.
It took about 11 hours, but they were able to make a lot more room. If you look hard, you can see "the shack" near the center of the next photo (tan siding). It's buried in snow and not accessible right now.
They also shoveled out the path on the right side of the barn.
Two of Ron's sons returned later to shovel the snow off the barn roof. It was still there when Steve snapped the next photo.
Before Steve left for the day, he had to take another photo of his beloved truck.
He should have enough room now to manage the snow for the rest of the season (unless something really crazy happens).
All is well in the Keweenaw.
