Reveal Day!

It's so exciting to think we should be moving into our new home before 2014 is over. Steve says he gets goosebumps when he thinks about it. It was fun to daydream about living there when we visited the property back on February 27th. I promised you some new photos of the interior and exterior of the house. I guess I've made you wait long enough, so today is Reveal Day!

Because of the window delay, the snow and frigid temperatures, we haven't made a lot of progress since November. However, we do have some new interior walls. This was the view as we came around the final curve in the driveway on February 27th.

We pulled up on the right side of the garage.

The guys had previously installed one of the windowless interior garage doors on the exterior. They've changed it now, so this photo shows the correct door with the window in it.

You can see the windows in one of the 2nd floor guest rooms in this shot.

Here's the exterior of the great room back on February 27th - patio doors, but no trapezoids.

This was after we had the heavy equipment out there "moving snow." We have piles everywhere.

We moved inside, and I snapped a photo of the laundry room.

Here's another shot of the laundry room from the kitchen.

 Our trapezoids weren't installed, but they were on site.

Because of the large area the trapezoid windows will cover and the steep pitch involved, the design was modified a bit for strength. To give us the amount of glass we want on the back of the house, we put a fixed single pane window under each trapezoid. You'll see what I mean when you see the photos of the windows after they were installed, but these are the 2 fixed pane windows that were installed horizontally below the trapezoids.

 The powder room and the foyer closet have been framed.

This is the corner of the master bedroom.

I stood in front of the patio doors that day and daydreamed a bit while looking out at the view. We'll have a deck here one day. Now, I'm getting goosebumps!

OK, time for the trapezoids!!! One week after those shots were taken, Steve took the camera back out to the property. Here's what he saw when he got there on March 6th.

You can see a small space between the trapezoids and the fixed windows beneath them. That gap will be covered with a bronze strip to match the windows. That strip will make it look like it's all one big window.

Steve took a photo of the trapezoids from the inside, too.

As long as he was upstairs, he snapped photos of the two guest rooms.

The guys had moved some snow to set up the scaffolding when they installed the trapezoids. They were cleaning up after themselves here.

Here's one final photo of the trapezoids. The angle of the roof matches the angle of the trapezoids! That's what we were waiting for. It feels great to finally have them installed.
